HOW IT STARTED

Cody Turner is the Owner and Operator of Kiokee Creek Kennels. He is the proud father of his 2 boys, Carden and Cohen who also have a passion for animals and the outdoors just like their father! One of their favorite things to do is “feed and air the dogs.” Cody enjoys the free labor when he can get it!

Cody got his first puppy (Gabby) for his 17th birthday from his parents. His Dad was always a dog man and had several hunting dogs over the years and he helped Cody get Gabby going in the right direction. Once Cody’s buddies saw how Gabby turned out as a hunting dog… several of them wanted Cody to train their dogs! In 2014, Cody started his kennel to support himself through college, training for close friends and new clients.

A few years later, Brad Arrington of Mossy Pond Retrievers contacted Cody and eventually offered him an opportunity to take his training knowledge and kennel skills to the next level. After 10 months of being molded by Brad and Hall of Fame trainer Hugh Arthur, Cody was operating the company’s AKC Field Trial division alongside Bill Arthur.  Over the next four years, Cody and Bill put over 45 dogs on the AKC national derby list and produced 40 AKC qualified all age (QAA) dogs!  In a short time, Cody became recognized as one of the top minor stake field trial trainers in the country as well as training and handling “Oldsquaws Little Rascal”. Rascal became the 2018 high point derby dog with 69 points and was the winner of the prestigious Purina Award. After 5 years at MPR, Cody had completed his contractual obligations.  Being forever grateful to MPR, Cody decided to move forward to reopening his own business at Kiokee Creek Kennels.
